I’ve disabled comments. Too much robotic spam. I am now looking into software to filter the spam from the legitimate comments. It just takes too much time to sort through all the comments and delete the spam, most of which is cleverly disguised as compliments. Sorry.

The art of astronomy depends on the mastery of certain basic technical skills. The combination of intellectually and emotionally stimulating experiences from observing is as close as I have ever come to that which some call “spiritual.” To observe is to voyage through time, to rekindle that sense of wonder I remember from childhood.

Observing is both relaxing and stimulating to me –it’s both intellectual and emotional, in the widening of the range of thought and understanding, in the pleasure attending the discovery of distant objects in the Universe, in the delight over the beauty and order revealed by the telescope in star systems that would otherwise be invisible.
